1:- *Desire*-- Before taking the saxophone as a beginner you have to desire to play it, you don't play it maybe because you were forced or threatened​ to, but because it is from your heart.
2:- *Saxophone*-- Has a beginner get your instrument so as it to be easier for you to learn.
3:- *Case*-- This is very important, the case helps in housing your saxophone.
4:- *Reeds*-- This is also very important, this enhances you to be able to play the saxophone, we have different brand like the rico, vandoreen and so on.
5:- *Assemble*-- This is one of the major thing to learn as a beginner, and it is to be able to arrange your​ saxophone which consists of the neckstrap, mouthpiece, reed, the body, the neck and so on.
6:- *Blow(Hard and Soft)* This is the ability to blow the saxophone after it as been arranged and also to play both soft and hard.
7:- *Patience* This is what many saxophonists lack, They do not practice, Work hard, also Patience and want to become a professional. Some don't know professionals like Kenny g, David Sanborn, Groover Washington. jr, Curtis stinger, Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Tom Scott, Gerry Mulligan, Dave Koz, Michael Brecker, Charlie Parker and even our Nigerian top saxophonists like Pastor Kunle Ajayi, Mike Aremu, Jerry Omole, Beejaysax and so on Became professionals because they were always rehearsing and also had Patience. They did not get to the top a day they started playing they had to work and work and work.
8:- *Mastery*  This is the ability to master the saxophone go broad and browse about the saxophone theory and also about saxophone improvisation skill ,jazz and so on.
