Before I knew it, the groundnut bottle on the dinning table got my attention, I picked it up and summoned all the courage I have. I tried to find my way to where Kimmie was lying with the man without making any sound. I finally hit the man with the bottle as I got hold of the gun in his hand. Kimmie screamed. Her screaming got the attention of the other arm robber who ran in from outside. He was on mask. Still with the gun I got from his other partner, I know Kimmie and I have to save ourselves now. The other man lied unconscious on the floor. As the man tried to get closer to us, I shut my eyes as I pulled the trigger of the gun, the man dropped down dead. The sound of the gun got the attention of the neighbours who probably phoned the police. I was shaking, I just killed someone, but still happy nothing happened to Kimmie and I. Shortly after, the police came in without asking much questions as they saw we were still shocked. One of the officers noticed that the man I hit with ...

Few minutes later she showed up. She explained to me the stress she went through trying to fix her car and how a stranger helped her out. I was grateful she is now fine. Later in the night, at exactly 8pm, I was expecting Lawrence to call me to tell me how the screening went but he didn't, I tried his number but to no avail. Though I was a bit worried but I tried to assure myself that everything was okay. Kimmie was sitting in the living room while I went to the room to get my phone. Though I heard someone knocking at the door and also Kimmie's foot steps towards the door, that was the only thing I had last. I was so diverted from the environment, I think its because Lawrence's lines were not going through. After much trial to get through to Lawrence, I decided to opt back to the sitting room to meet Kimmie. Just as I was about calling her name, I saw a man holding Kimmie down with a gun in his hand. Its being four days now since Lawrence left, I never ceased to forget him in my prayers, you sure do know I want him to get the job. The sound of my phone ringing woke me. It was Lawrence, I told him how I thought about him all through the night, of cause it was him I dreamt of. Lawrence further told me that , the screening process will be over the next day. I was happy as I can't wait to see him. "I love you" Lawrence said. "I love you more" I replied. After a long day at work, I was so stressed out. Kimmie should be back home, I thought. Kimmie was not home as expected so I dashed into the kitchen to prepare something for us to eat, thinking she would soon be back but she didn't show up. I started getting worried, I tried her number but to no avail.

Lawrence called me the next morning that he will be leaving for Kaduna. I pleaded with him that we should see before he leaves but he said he had to go so as to get there on time. He will be away for a week. I tried as much as possible not to miss him too much even though we talk every day and so In oder to while away time, I stayed over at my friend's house everyday after work. Although Kimmie and I had been friends since we were little but they had to travel out of the country. I ran into Kimmie during one of those days I went for shopping and ever since then, we became friends like before. I told Kimmie about my boyfriend Lawrence and I just can't wait for her to meet him.

As for me, I wanted to further my education by going for a masters program in Mass communication, I really wanted to work for a media company. On the other hand, Lawrence had this dream of working with an automobile company for a while before he set up his own company. We were so much interested in pursuing our goals together. Things just seems to go on smoothly for us. Lawrence's uncle works for Diamond media cooperation, he helped to liaise with him which got me a job in no time. Finally I felt what it is like to be living out your dream. Lawrence's application to various companies of his dream was not working out, he got frustrated over this but I assured him things will be fine. Few weeks later, he had this mail from a company he never applied to, at first I thought it was a scam and I never wanted him to go for it, but he was so much more interested in his dream that I couldn't stop him.

Lawrence and I just concluded our youth service, though we served in different States, Lawrence served in Sokoto State while I served in Benue State. Despite the distance, we never seized to be us. Though we had our bad days but the light never seized to shine again. It was like hell cause we never got to see each other throughout the period. But i had this feeling that i was really meant for him and he for me, i knew that the very first day i met him, the memory always linger. I actually met Lawrence during my first year then in school. You know the feeling, when you fall in love with someone and convinced you are met for each other. I can still remember the very day Lawrence left for Sokoto, I felt like he was leaving my life, different thought filled my mind. The thought of something happening to us, the thought of Lawrence falling in love with someone else and all sort of different thoughts. But none of these happened which made me so much happy. I have heard  various stories...

In life we tend to take steps at one point or the other, each steps in turn either make us or mar us. Some people will say, what you are today is as a result of what you did yesterday and so if you want a better tomorrow, make things right today! We get to some point in life where we need to take decisions. This is what am driving at, will your future smile at you after the result of the steps you are taking today? Maybe we should at least spend more time investing into our future and making the best out of our lives. We should not give room for Regret, whereby, we end up saying: I wish I did that, I wish I embarked on the journey, I wish I started that project, I wish I took my life more serious than I did. Life is giving you the free room to make things right and make it right now. Your ability, skill, your qualification. You have got it for so long without taking a flight. You have lot of limitations ringing in your head. What if this, what if that. You can get it fueled and then take that awesome flight. And feel the joy people feel on the way to achieving their dreams. Its not easy but worth it.... life is full of competitions. We come across them daily, in school, at work, among friends, randomly everywhere. When it comes to competing with others, our number one priority is to be extremely better than others, have higher  grades than them, do better than they do, have qualification they seems not to have.. Actually, there is nothing bad in aiming at all of these and even more, but the question is, are we really competing with the right person? One reality is, we will always find someone we are quite much better than. Likewise, someone will always exist that do better than us. Success is never measured by how better you perform than others. True success lies in how better you perform then before, by measuring your former success with your present success. The only person you should try to be better than is yourself. The only person you should be in competition with is YOU. when you compete with yourself, your aim is to be better than you were before, which is quite muc...

We really need confidence to achieve enough in this life. We need that spark to help us keep going, to face anything that comes our way and even over come obstacles. But, majority tends to misinterpret the word confidence, some sees it as, that thing that gives you the assurance that you will always be accepted and loved in any thing you do or in any thing you offer people. Though it is also part of it. But, this is the question, what if things turns around the other way round? What if you were not accepted? What if what u had to offer looks like trash to people? We can't avoid these things obviously. Then this got me to know this, "confidence is not they will like me, it is I will be fine if they don't".
