A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for using his government to favour his northern kinsmen. It was gathered that Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wondered why Buhari decided to appoint northerners as Acting Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Acting Director General of National Intelligent Agency as well as MD of NEXIM Bank. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has said it was becoming obvious that a group of cabal is exercising the powers of the president in Muhammadu Buhari's government Fayose in a statement issued on Thursday, April 20, by his special assistant on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka, questioned whether or not Buhari was now governing the country by proxy following the president’s absence from state functions, especially the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings, The Punch reports. President Muhammad’s Buhari has stated that the federal government is in constant touch with with the Boko Haram terrorist group with a view to freeing the remaining CHIBOK girls. The president said government is in touch “through negotiations, through local intelligence to secure the release of the remaining girls and other abducted persons unharmed”. Buhari who made this known on Thursday, in commemoration of the third year anniversary of the abduction of over 200 girls from a secondary school in Chibok, also stated that never again will any group hold the nation to ransom. “Like I have repeatedly said, the Federal Government is willing to bend over backwards to secure the release of the remaining Chibok girls. Ex-PDP chair, Mu’azu, linked to property where EFCC found N18bn cash

A former national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party has been linked to a building in Ikoyi where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) made a humongous find of cash in hard currencies amounting to about N18billion. The EFCC had disclosed on Wednesday that it found $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m in cash at a residential building on the 7th Floor of a four – bedroom apartment at Osborne Towers located at 16, Osborne road Ikoyi, Lagos. A search of the property on the internet showed that it was constructed by Cappa And D’alberto Plc, while Etco (Nigeria) Limited, an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Contracting firm had carried out Electrical, ELV, Plumbing, Fire Fighting and Air Conditioning work on the property. Former governor of Kogi state and All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain cried out on Wednesday April 13, over what he referred to as continuous attempt to end his life by unknown people. Olafemi alleged that some people have contracted assassins to attack him and put an end to his life and he believed his life is now in grave danger. It was learnt that Olafemi said the attempts on his life started after he wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello earlier this year. Olafemi said the last attempt on his life was made on Tuesday, April 12 around midnight when a woman believed to be a contracted assassin was spotted around his house, Vanguard reports. Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo. The lecture which held on Wednesday, April 12, came to an abrupt end, following a clash between factional groups of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC). Various Ijaw interest groups and some of Tompolo’s associates had put the lecture together to celebrate the life of the former militant leader who went into hiding since 2015 and invited eminent personalities, including renowned professor of English Literature, Professor Godini Darah, to discuss peace in the Niger Delta. The Nation reports that the atmosphere became charged when two leaders of the two factions of the IYC; the Eric Omare camp and the recently inaugurated Peretubo Oweilami camp met at the event. Former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has explained why she withdrew $100,000 from her unblocked Skye Bank account recently. According to Daily Trust, Dame Jonathan made the clarification through her solicitor, Barrister Charles Ogboli. The former first lady, said she never wanted to withdraw all the money, but just to ensure compliance to the order of court. Ogboli said: “She wanted to withdraw $5 million on Friday but unfortunately there was no funds and they (the bank) pleaded with her that she can withdraw $100,000 in order to comply with the order of court. The special assistant to governor of Ekiti state on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, has blasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In a series of messages on his social media pages on Wednesday, April 12, Olayinka said: two years ago, before APC, JAMB was working, INEC was functioning, you could apply for a new passport and get it that same day. But under a regime that promises change, you now have to wait for five months after capturing before getting your passports renewed, due to lack of passport booklets. Getting JAMB form now takes weeks. Lere Olayinka, the special assistant to governor of Ekiti state has blasted the ruling party May God never forgive those who foisted this calamity on us."
