Sum of 5,500 Nigerians to be deported from Libya and Mali, 250 to arrive today!
Julie Okah-Donli, Director-General of the National Agency for
the Prohibition of Trafficking (NAPTIP) gave a report yesterday in lagos that, a sum of 5,500 Nigerians will be deported from Mali and Libya for different migration offences which include: human trafficking, non possession of valid travel documents, smuggling of migrants etc.
The first batch of 250 Nigerians from Libya will arrive the country today. Another batch of 250 Nigerians will also be deported from the same country by next week.
Furthermore, she added that, 5000 Nigerians are mainly
victims of human trafficking, were awaiting
evacuation back home from Mali.
She went further to describe the trend of
deportation of Nigerians from different parts
of the world in recent time as frightening, therefore calling for the need to change things by
providing an attractive environment that
would keep people gainfully employed in the country.
Looking at the statistics of Nigerians deported, she made it known that, between February and April, this
year, no fewer than 1134 Nigerians were
deported from different parts of the world for
Different offences. Having 905
deported from Libya in five batches.
115 from
Italy in four batches.
41 from Mali.
26 from
Burkina Faso.
14 from Ghana.
22 from the
United Arab Emirate.
1 from Cameroon.
8
from Cote-Ivore and
2 from Togo.

and organisations covering for them, Okah-
Donli said things are been done concerning this as the agency have concluded the plan of closing up illegal setups that house human trafficking victims saying they should find more better works to do.
Nigerians can however assist the agency by providing information on the apprehension of human trafficking.
