Buhari has committed an impeachable offence and should be impeached- Adegboruwa
It was reported yesterday that the senate reacted to the letter written by president Muhammadu Buhari by appointing the vice president, professor Yemi Osinbajo as "The Coordinator".
In addition to this, Ebun Olu Adegboruwa, a human rights lawyer, shared his opinion, claiming that, the president has committed an impeachable offence and should be impeached, by appointing Osinbajo as a coordinator.
He made this known on Wednesday, May 10.
He further added, the Nigeria constitutionally created office of Acting President has been limited because the president is away on an indefinite medical trip abroad.
Further speaking, he said the VP is limited in policy decisions as a coordinator, he can not discipline any minister, appoint or sack anyway while Buhari is away.
“The Chief of Staff was recently reported to
have moved vital documents away from Aso
Villa in effect, Nigeria has no leader
presently. The existing office of VP is no
more. While the Senate lacks the power to pronounce
Osinbajo as Acting President, without a
written resolute of both chamber of the
National Assembly, through a decision taken
on the floor of both chambers" He added.
Adegboruwa moreover said, the President
cannot travel for medical check up for an
indefinite period of time, saying that the
National Assembly should reject the letter
from the President.
In conclusion, he said, the National Assembly should start impeachment proceedings
against the President, for gross misconduct.
