CBN Governor Meets with President Buhari

Godwin Emefiele, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), paid a visit to the presidential villa, Abuja yesterday, 4th of May.
The governor was said to have a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
In his speech, Godwin said, he came to give a routine briefing on the activities of the bank.
Though, the president was supposed to be resting on the orders given by his doctors.

Moreover, after the meeting with the
president, Emefiele declared that: “Basically, as it’s
expected, what we normally do is from time
to time is to brief the President about our
activities, about the Central Bank of Nigeria,
particularly at this time as it relates to the
efforts that the Central Bank is doing to
stabilize the forex market".
He further added that, after he has briefed the president regarding the activities
so far and he was very happy to hear that
the market is stabilising at the level that it
is right now, that is, (the parallel
market which currently stabilizes at between
380 and 385, naira to dollar)
Further talking on the briefing, he said crude oil
production has increased and the price has
reached up to $56 per barrel.

Tragedy as gunmen shot dead a man

In Kaduna state, some gunmen were suspected to have killed a man named, Christopher Joseph, aged 27 years old. The deceased body was said to have been found in Abuja-Kaduna expressway, having his hands and legs tied down. An interview with the deceased father shows that he spoke with his son last on 25th of March. He added that, they had no quarrel what so ever during their conversation. The current recession in the country would end by the third quarter of this year. Mr. Godwin Emefiele, The governor of the Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) said yesterday in his speech. While he was briefing journalist, he made it known that, Looking at the nation's foreign reserve which reads $31,billion. he said this was enough to Bring things back as it was. the country was now equipped to bring the recession to an end as quickly as possible. He said the value of naira is now appreciating with the dollar. The downward move in the parallel market price of foreign exchange from N525 to N370, was a result of the apex bank intervention in the foreign exchange market. Former aviation minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has described the minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi as a serial traitor. Fani-Kayode's comment was contained in a statement by his media aide, Jude Ndukwe. Fani-Kayode had alleged in a tweet that the Lagos apartment where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commmission discovered huge cash belongs to Amaechi.
