Bridge linking Oyo and Osun State collapses

Prior to the heavy downpour that happened yesterday, the bridge linking Iwo, in Osun State and Oyo, in
Oyo State was washed away.

The bridge broke down at the Idi-Iroko which has currently turned the journey of about 45 kilometres to
almost 80 kilometres as motorists now go
through Agoro, Lannite and kieseni road.

Honourable Akintayo Gafar Amere, the Honourable Representing Iwo Federal
Constituency at the National Assembly Abuja as at yesterday
visited the place to commiserate with the people. While the honourable was addressing the
people, he assured them that, he would bring the
attention of the relevant government agencies
to the plight of the people plying the road
which he described as Federal Road.

Meanwhile, some daring people living around the villages
now have to carry their various motorcycle to cross the water
and they said that it would not be easy to
travel almost thirty kilometres to get to their
destinations instead of just crossing the bridge.

Among some of the people on the entourage of honourable Amere are; Alhaji Gafar Alani
Rabiu, Alhaji Oyebamiji Yago, Alhaji Olambamiji,
Mr. F. A Aremu.

CSO, expels punch reporter from presidency villa

The chief security officer, (CSO), to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abubakar Bashir has expelled the Punch correspondent, Mr. Lekan Adetayo, assigned  to cover the presidential villa, Abuja, as at yesterday. Correspondent lekan was driven out of the villa, due to the fact that, he wrote a story about the health state of president Buhari, which was seen as injurious to the presidency. But the Presidency has not said anything concerning the action of the president’s CSO. The Punch had, on Sunday, published a story with a headline, ‘Fresh anxiety in Aso Rock over Buhari’s health’. Adetayo had however, yesterday been questioned over the story. Doctor charged to court for allegedly raping his patient.

A medical doctor, Philemon Brazil, has been sent back to custody today, 28th of April, at the upper court, Pankshin in Plateau. The accused was laid with the accusation of raping his patient, whose name is undisclosed, in her house on the 25th of April. On the other hand, Brazil pleaded not guilty of the allegation. The judgement passed by Mr Joseph Chollom, ordered him to be returned back to custody, therefore adjourned the case till the 22 of may. His Prosecutor, Sgt. Singbon Hosea, further inform the court that, the rape victim had history of miscarriages and had been a patient of the doctor before the incident. He further explained that, Brazil had committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 283 and 285 of the Penal Code.’’ Brazil is to remain in the custody, till the 22nd of May

BREAKING: Notorious Kidnapper, Evans varnishes, whereabout unknown.

Prior to the arrest and detention of Chukwuduneme Onwuamadike a.k.a. Evans, Nigeria’s well known billionaire kidnapper, news on his case seems to start dying down which resulted in people's speculations that he’s escaped or probably dead. Report from Saturday Sun shows that, Evans is not dead as his family now fears but has been moved from the Lagos police command headquarters cell by about 30 heavily armed men at midnight few days ago to an undisclosed destination. It was further gathered from some senior police officers that he has been moved to Abuja. Read how PDP's Adeleke won Osun west senatorial bye-election over APC.

On Sunday, 9th July, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Mr Ademola Adeleke of the PDP as the winner of the Osun West Senatorial bye- election. The winner happens to be the younger brother of the late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke, who died earlier this year. Reports from The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shows that, the election was held in 10 local government areas making up the district. Mr. Ademola Adeleke had 97, 480 votes to defeat a former senator, Mudashiru Hussein of the APC, who had 66, 116 votes. The result was announced in Iwo, the Osun West Senatorial headquarters, where Mr Baritor Kpagih, INEC Residential Electoral Commissioner for the bye-election, said Adeleke won nine out of the 10 local government areas where the election was held. No decision yet on who to sign the 2017 budget- Lai Mohammed.

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, made it known that, the Presidency is to take a decision on who signs the 2017 Appropriation Bill into law whenever the document is transmitted to it for accent. In accordance to the letter written by president Muhammadu Buhari to the national assembly on his medical trip, acting President Yemi Osinbajo, was expected to sign the document. Call on Government To Improve Working environment as about 15,000 doctors deserts Nigeria

Research shows that, not less than 15,000 medical practitioners have traveled out of the country to get better paying jobs. Some to study, some to further and others to work. Adding to this, Dr. Mike Ogirima, President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), summon that, over 10,000 to 15,000 doctors leaves the country to work outside the country. Is it therefore a pity that Nigeria has trained these doctors while they make use of what they have learnt by working for other countries.
