GODFATHERISM; A Plague In Nigeria Politics.

Godfatherism, a plague in Nigeria politics, I didn't want to comment on this but it has been making waves in the media for few days now, and so I feel obligated to say my mind.
When politicians support other politicians based on the fact that they are their godfathers, and not because of what the politicians have in mind to do for the nation, then, Nigerians need to be worried about the future of our once great nation.

The honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aishat Alhassan publicly humiliated herself and her godfather, Atiku Abubakar when she made a point of media attention. At least, this is how I see things. If she were to support him on the basis of having a master plan to bring back the former glory of Nigeria or a latter glory which we hope far surpasses the former, then, her support for Atiku would have been justified. But No, she will support him because he is her godfather! (Who does that?) obviously, in Nigeria politics.

Your excellency sir, Mr Atiku, I don't know if this piece will get to you, but I hope it does. You were once the Vice President  of this country, we cannot or I, personally cannot point to one or two things that you have done or that can be accredited to your name. I am sorry to foil your hope in case you are thinking of running. Sir, with all due respect, I don't pray you emerge winner. Isn't it time to dust your caps and let those with plans contest and lead us away from this nemesis you have brought us ( and your president as at then, chief Olusegun Obasanjo) the once giant of Africa?

And to all Buharists, isn't it to early to start campaigning? Let the man do his job. Don't push him. He is old already. He hasn't even fulfilled one quarter of his promises to Nigerians and we are not quite sure he is going to. Let him also dust his cap like Nelson Mandela did. He, Nelson Mandela is a leader African leaders should look up to. He had set a record, world record, and no one is ready to beat the record, what kind of democracy are we then practicing?
Your excellency sir, need I remind you that you were once the Head of State? Isn't it enough? Please sir, I would advice you drop the baton for someone else. It isn't worth dying over sir. After you have successfully completed your four years in office, please, go take a rest at your home town.
Let us be wise in 2019 and not vote in looters or vote based on sentiment. If an Igbo man is ready to make us attain our former glory in case the latter seem an impossible feat, let us vote him in. Sincere and honest goal setters and getters should be allowed to rule us. Let us not vote based on the fact that our godfathers or godsons are the ones contesting even when we are quite sure they have nothing to offer us.
